Child Protection Month 2017 – Going Green
It is that time of the year again where we are going green for Child Protection Week running from the 28th of May to the 3rd of June 2017.
Although we have child-focused projects throughout the year, we want to highlight this month, Ezrah’s special contributions to keeping children safe through various initiatives as well as our focus on promoting children’s rights to education, care and protection and supporting family stability.
Firstly, we are proud that Connect Network mandated Ezrah to develop the Safe Community Strategy material to implement 10 safe community forums within the Western Cape. Through this initiative stakeholders in identified communities will be supported by Connect Network with capacity building and training to collaborate on child protection.
Ezrah was also invited to present sessions on the importance of good mother-and daughter relationships and protective behaviours to the community of Hawston on the 13th of May during Neo Life’s Mother-Daughter Day event. During this event we will highlight children’s right to quality care and protection.
Thirdly, Valcare in Paarl has requested that Ezrah train 45 creches in the Paarl area with skills in implementing a child protection policy in line with the Children’s Act. This training will take place on the 30th of May.
We are also assisting Oasis Pre-School to register as partial care facility with DSD, ensuring that they are aligning their facilities and programmes with the norms and standards of the Children’s Act. Hope to the Hopeless are mentored to strengthen their projects to vulnerable children in Ravensmead, while Kingdom Vision Bible School is using Ezrah’s material in reaching out to disadvantaged primary schools in the West Coast.

Every step for child protection is creating awareness around children’s rights and making our communities safer for children. Together we can make a difference – so don’t hesitate to go green this month.
