What is this Project about?
-
Training parent support mentors to strengthen the first 1000 days of babies’ development through education on health and nutrition, love and attention as well as play and stimulation.
-
Target audience: ECD practitioners, social service professionals and community-based facilitators
“I really enjoyed it and I learned a lot. I am planning to have a workshop in November (Premature awareness month) at our local clinic, educating pregnant mommies about what I’ve learned today.”
“I have learnt a lot of new things such as fighting in front of a baby can be harmful. I will inform my fellow workers and the parents about what I’ve learnt today. This will help so many new moms.”
“The First 1000 days training has made an impact on assessments and court report writing. Professionals were reminded about the impact of play, nutrition and also safety on the growing child. There is a motivation towards more support of the teenage pregnancy to promote wellbeing and prevent generational neglect and substance abuse issues. Young people were present in both training sessions and reported they are now aware of the importance of child development.”
“As a 4 to 14 month old facilitator, this was very educational. Thank you for your passion to help our youth!”
“It was very exciting to learn new things about babies and their parents. Thanks for everything.”
